Arboreta
An Arboretum is a curated collection of trees and shrubs, grown and maintained for educational and scientific purposes. They serve as a scientific reference, a germplasm repository, for research, and as an outdoor classroom , providing an opportunity to see many varieties of trees in one place, allowing one to get familiar with their names and appearances. Arboreta help support research, education, and foster a greater love and appreciation for trees.
Between the years 1988 - 2015, Nashville Tree Foundation designated over 25 arboreta throughout the city. Requests were reviewed by the Foundation’s board of directors and a leaf-shaped bronze or zinc plaque was awarded at a public ceremony at the site.
