Betty Brown, Tree Foundation president and chair of the ReLeaf Nashville executive committee, accepts a $20,000 check from BellSouth Telecommunications officials. Generous individuals, corporations, foundations, and homeowners who received trees donated and pledged more than $850,000 by November 1998. With in-kind donations, the $1,000,000 goal was reached just seven months after the tornado hit.
