Nashville Tree Foundation works to preserve and enhance Nashville's urban forest by educating the public, planting trees in urban areas, identifying the oldest and largest trees in Davidson County, and designating arboretums.

Nashville Tree Foundation

Nashville Tree Foundation was founded in 1986, an outgrowth of Homecoming '86 when 1986 trees were planted in Davidson County. More history

The Foundation has worked to recreate the city’s urban forest in a variety of ways. Since 1986, the group has planted more than 8,000 trees and recognized over 500 champions of the Big Old Tree Contest.

Foundation elects Wallace president

Long-time board member Pat Wallace is now president of Nashville Tree Foundation.

Wallace, a fundraising consultant, said, “I’m honored to become only the second president ever of Nashville Tree Foundation. The late Betty Brown’s leadership was inspiring, and I hope to continue building the strong organization she created.” She joined the Foundation board in 1988.

Froeb, Lamar join Foundation board

Lisa Froeb and Elizabeth Lamar chat with Eleanor Willis at the September 2009 board meeting.

Lisa Froeb and Elizabeth Bass Lamar have been elected to the board of directors of the Nashville Tree Foundation.

Both are active volunteers in the community who will bring their skills and enthusiasm to projects of the Nashville Tree Foundation, said president Pat Wallace.

Froeb, a graduate of the University of Colorado in Boulder, is secretary of the Magdalene board of directors among her many volunteer activities.

Friends of Warner Parks is just one of the organizations Lamar supports. A native Nashvillian, she is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
